General Education Preview: Initial Feedback
(Reconciliation Committee - Faculty Senate - April 2022)

Please share your initial thoughts about the proposed general education motions being recommended by the Reconciliation Committee of the Faculty Senate.

Note: This is not a vote; rather, we are seeking preliminary feedback to help us further refine the motions before they come to the Senate for a First Reading on 5.6.

[After 4.22, you may share suggestions with your Senators, who will have access to Sharepoints for adding specific comments.]
At this time, I support the idea of new faculty director of gen ed (itself in the context of a new spirit of inclusive and iterative partnerships between key stakeholders).
At this time, I support the idea of seating a JDEI Gen Ed committee to help develop a new 4-credit JDEI attribute as part of the gen ed learning outcomes for our students. This is good for our students.
At this time, I support the idea of Curricular Innovation Pilots (as a two-year pilot with funds). This is good for our students.
At this time, I support the idea of the recommended revised titles (and descriptions to follow) for the overall core gen ed. This is good for our students.
