Dear Participants:
You are invited to take part in a research study examining the measurement and influences on self-reported cultural competency in school psychologists and school psychology graduate students.
 
You are being asked to participate in a research project. This form will give you information about the project. Please read the information and ask any questions you have about the project before deciding to participate. The information we collect will NOT affect your current standing as a professional school psychologist or graduate student.
 
What is the purpose? The purpose of the project is to gain insight on the measurement of cultural competency as well as factors that influence self-perceived cultural competency.
 
What you will be asked to do? Professional school psychologists and school psychology graduate students will take an online self-survey that will collect data on multicultural competency derived from the validated School Psychology Multicultural Competence Scale (SPMCS), personality characteristics derived from the validated The Big Five Inventory (BFI), and demographic variables of interest.
 
You will complete the questionnaire about cultural competence, personality characteristics, and demographic information. The questionnaire will take approximately 20 minutes and will be taken during a time of convenience when access to the Internet is available.
 
Risks and benefits: There are no anticipated risks to you if you participate in this study, beyond those encountered in everyday life.
 
Although participating in this project may not directly help you, it may benefit professional school psychologists and school psychology graduate students in the future. By participating in this project, you are helping to see the relationship between self-reported measures of cultural competency and influential factors that affect learning and service delivery.
 
Taking part is voluntary: Taking part in this study is completely voluntary. If you choose to be in the study you can withdraw at any time without consequences of any kind. Participants can choose to skip any question. Participating in this study does not mean that you are giving up any of your legal rights.
 
Your answers will be confidential: The data gathered from this study will be used for research purposes only. The data will be kept in a firewall protection file and only restricted personnel will have access to view the information. Any report of this research that is made available to the public will not include your name or any other individual information by which you could be identified.
