IRBNet Protocol #: 2092363 Version Date: v3.0, June 2023
You are being asked to participate in a research study. Your participation in this research study is voluntary and you do not have to participate. Even if you decide to participate now, you may change your mind and stop at any time. This document contains important information about this study and what to expect if you decide to participate. Please consider the information carefully. Feel free to ask questions before making your decision whether or not to participate.
Study Purpose: If you participate in this research study, you will be invited to answer a qualitative survey asking about your teaching experience using generative AI in the writing classroom and your hopes and concerns for how generative AI will impact the teaching of writing in the future. Responding to the survey should take between 30-45 minutes.
The purpose of this study is to gain further understanding about the potential benefits and problems with using generative AI in the writing classroom. This study will help future writing teachers know how to more effectively use generative AI in the writing classroom. There should be minimal risk to participating in the study. Your name and institution will not be used, and only your anonymous responses will be used in the study.
You may choose not to answer any survey questions for any reason without penalty.
There are no expected risks to you as a result of participating in this study.
You will not benefit directly from participating in this study.
Your name and institution will not be part of the survey. Only your survey responses will be used in the study. Information that you've provided for this study may be used for future research or shared with another researcher for future research studies without additional consent.
Procedures: If you agree to be a part of the research study, you will be asked to complete a qualitative survey that should take 30-45 minutes to answer.
Before you begin, please note that the data you provide may be collected and used by Qualtrics as per its privacy agreement. This research is only for U.S. residents over the age of 18.
