Thank you for your interest in the Open Access Publication Equity Fund. This fund is intended to support open access to DU research articles where publication fees cannot be covered by grants or other funding sources. Current faculty, staff and students are eligible for up to $3,000 per year. Journals must be fully Open Access and compliant with the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association Code of Conduct, or be listed in the Directory of Open Access Journals. “Hybrid” journals, where some articles are open and others are not, are not eligible. Our Open Access guide provides some explanation of these models.

Acceptance of an article by a journal will not be immediately required. Funding for accepted proposals will be encumbered for three months while an author prepares a manuscript for submission.

Authors are required to submit articles to the Libraries Institutional Repository and attribute support to the university. Contact us if you have any questions about the fund or eligibility, or anything related to open access.

We are also open to request for funding to support OA books. Please contact Jenelys Cox, Institutional Repository Manager, at Jennifer.Cox@du.edu if you are working on a book that will be free to readers immediately upon publication.

The Libraries have created an Advisory Committee on Scholarly Communication to help oversee the approval process for this fund and related issues. Members currently include:

Kimberly Bender, GSSW

Catherine Dunn, Law

Sarah Huff, CAHSS

Alex Huffman, NSM

Keith Miller, Office of the Provost
