Thank you for registering for the 2025 Kirk Lecture, featuring Dr. Shayna Sheinfeld, Assistant Professor of Religion at Augsburg University and author of Jewish and Christian Women in the Ancient Mediterranean.

Dr. Sheinfeld’s lecture, "Defiance and Power: Gendered Resistance in First-Century Judaea," will explore the many forms of resistance—beyond direct combat—against oppressive leadership and societal pressures. While women have played pivotal roles in acts of defiance, their contributions are often overlooked. This talk will examine the role of women in first-century Judaea and the Jewish rebellion against Rome to highlight gendered forms of resistance.

Join us from 6-7 p.m. in Community Commons, Room 1700, (2055 E Evans Ave) for a reception, followed by the lecture from 7-8 p.m.

Street parking is encouraged near campus. Paid parking is available in Lot 301, located across the street westbound from The Driscoll Student Center (2050 E Evans Ave).

We look forward to seeing you there!
