You are being asked to participate in a research study. Please read the
information below about the study before you decide whether or not to take
part.
You are invited to participate in a research study that helps students
learn about the research process. The study was designed by students in Dr.
Howard Markman’s Couples Therapy and Relationship Education class at the
University of Denver.
If you agree to be part of the research study, you will be asked to
fill out an online survey. The content of the questions is about your current
or previous romantic relationship and/or romantic relationships in general. The
study will take about 10 minutes. Research data collected from you will be
anonymous; we will have no way of identifying you. You must be age 18 or older
to be in this study. This study is not approved for the enrollment of people
under the age of 18.
There are no potential risks associated with participation, though
sometimes participants might experience some degree of distress while
evaluating romantic relationships through questionnaires. There are also no direct benefits to the participants. There is an
educational benefit to the student researchers.
Participating in this study is completely voluntary. Even if you decide
to participate now, you may change your mind and stop at any time. You may
choose not to answer any survey question for any reason.
Once you submit your responses, we will be unable to remove your data
while the study is ongoing because all data are anonymous and we will not know
which data belong to you.
