Research Findings and “Las Promotoras” Documentary with Q&A Presentation
Join us and learn more about important findings regarding toxic exposure and its everyday impact on the individuals and families who live in the country’s most polluted zip code: 80216. Additionally, we are screening the documentary “Las Promotoras,” which tells the story of the fierce advocates from the community –Indigenous, Latina, migrant women– who work with neighbors to bring about social change.
Cultivando, a small nonprofit in Adams Countis relentlessly fighting to end the environmental genocide that has led to decades of contamination of air, water and soil, in a predominantly Latino and working-class community. The environmental justice work of these warrior advocates shows us what is possible when the sheer power of the community challenges the resident Goliath – Suncor Oil Refinery.
Together with our partners at the University of Denver, we are co-hosting a powerful event at this year’s Earth Day. Don’t miss it!

Hallazgos de investigación y presentación de documental “Las Promotoras” y coloquio
Acompáñanos y conoce más sobre importantes hallazgos en torno a la exposición tóxica y su impacto diario sobre los individuos y familias quienes viven en el código postal más contaminado de todo el país: 80216. A su vez, presentaremos el documental “Las Promotoras”, el cual cuenta la historia de aguerridas defensoras –mujeres indígenas, latinas, migrantes– quienes junto a sus vecinos abogan por el cambio social.
Cultivando, una pequeña organización del condado de Adams, lucha incansablemente para dar fin al genocidio ambiental que durante décadas ha contaminado el aire, el agua y el suelo en una comunidad mayormente latina y de clase trabajadora. La labor de justicia ambiental que llevan a cabo éstas implacables mujeres nos muestra que el poder comunitario es capaz de retar al Goliat del vecindario – la Refinería Petrolera Suncor.
