Purpose
The purpose of this research is to understand the experiences of Graduate Students of Color in their entry-level graduate Multicultural Counseling courses.
Procedures
If you continue, you will be invited to participate in an interview either via telephone or Skype that will be conducted at a time of your choosing via Acuity Scheduling. You will be asked questions about your personal experience in your graduate entry-level Multicultural Counseling course. The interview will be recorded on a recording device. The time to complete the interview should take no more than 45 minutes.
Voluntary Participation
Your answers will remain anonymous. Participation in this study is completely voluntary. Even if you begin the study, you may decide to leave the survey or end the interview at any time. You also retain the option to not answer any questions of the survey or interview.
Risks and Benefits
Potential risks and/or discomforts of participation may include emotional distress as a result of considering your personal experiences as a Student of Color. The benefit of this study is assisting with a contribution to the scientific community and to area of multicultural counseling and training. After completion of the study, participants will be sent a $15 Amazon gift card. Participants will still be sent the gift card should they choose to end the interview early.
Confidentiality
The researcher will transfer the recording of the interview to a de-identified written record and delete the recording to keep your information safe throughout this study. The written record will be password protected and kept on a password-protected computer. Your individual identity will be kept private when information is shared, presented, or published about this study.
However, should any information contained in this study be the subject of a court order or lawful subpoena, the University of Denver might not be able to avoid compliance with the order or subpoena. The research information may be shared with federal agencies or local committees who are responsible for protecting research participants.
Some things we cannot keep private and must report to proper authorities. If you disclose information about child abuse or neglect or that you are going to harm yourself of others, we have to report that to the Department of Human Services as required by law.
