Honors Course Grant App Submission

If you have ideas for improving your Honors courses but require funds to do it, please consider applying for an Honors Course Grant. We are offering grants of up to $500 that you can use towards anything that enhances the student experience. Examples might include (but are not limited to):

  • Field trip or excursion
  • Course materials or supplies
  • Access to archives or other primary records

We unfortunately cannot offer grants to cover faculty stipends.

We recommend applying before the quarter your teaching begins, but we will consider applications past that point if possible.  Availability of funds will depend on demand. We will evaluate proposals based on the ability to enhance student learning and contribute to our students’ honors experience.

For reference, NCHC defines an Honors Education as one that is “characterized by in-class and extracurricular activities that are measurably broader, deeper, or more complex than comparable learning experiences typically found at institutions of higher education.” And the DU Honors Program’s goal is to cultivate student capacity for original inquiry and creative exploration. We want our students to emerge as self-directed learners, encouraged to ask new questions and pursue their curiosities – both within the classroom and beyond.

Course grant proposals should address how funds will be used to achieve these goals.
