The $3,500 Elsie Lincoln Vandergrift Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who shows promise and accomplishment in psychology. This fund was established by Ms. Dorothy Helen Hanson to honor her friend and mentor, Ms. Vandergrift Benedict, a DU psychology student from the 1890s. All psychology majors can apply. Preference is given to students who have fewer than 75 hours of University credit by the end of winter quarter. In addition, students must have at least 1 faculty member submit a recommendation for them.

The $6,500 Bernard Spilka Undergraduate Scholarship is awarded to the rising junior or senior judged most likely to make a significant contribution to the field of psychology. This scholarship is named for Professor Spilka, who retired from the University of Denver in 1997, after 40 years of devotion to the field of psychology. In particular, he was dedicated to facilitating undergraduate teaching and research and for encouraging the advancement of all students—especially women and ethnic minorities. Eligible students are psychology majors, have a 3.0 or above cumulative GPA, and have 75 or more hours of University credit by the end of winter quarter.  In addition, students must have at least 2 faculty members submit a recommendation for them.
