The Sturm College of Law Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) seeks to cultivate a teaching and learning environment that creates a sense of inclusion, belonging, and well-being for all members of our community. We value diversity in all its forms. We also believe that the presence, participation, and perspectives of individuals from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in legal education and the legal profession – including those that have experienced systematic marginalization, oppression, and exclusion – is of imminent importance and requires intentional time, energy, resources and engagement from our office. Please include a statement as to why you wish to attend the conference/event, how this conference/event is aligned with all of the areas of focus described above, and how it specifically connects to your personal and professional interests/goals around diversity, equity and inclusion. While there is no length requirement, we would expect at least 150 words.
Are you planning to attend this event officially as a member of a DU Law SBA funded student organization? If so, please name the organization. Please note each individual must complete the application - the organization cannot complete it on behalf on individual students because of how the funding is distributed.
I, the undersigned, understand that this application does not guarantee a fund disbursement and that I am responsible for the timely submission of this application, communicating any deadlines, and any other information pertinent to the processing of my application. I also understand that DU might require certain documentation or particular processes to be completed in order to receive funds and that funds might be given as a reimbursement versus in advance. Finally, I understand that financial services will review all students prior to fund disbursement to ensure awards do not exceed the cost of attendance, and I understand that this factor may affect the ability of an individual student to receive funds.
